Xbox One X vs OG PS4 - impressions.

Smooth menus will be a nice improvement when we get it. The whole UI seems very un-optimized everywhere. Even during a match it doesn't seem to update as quickly as the rest of the game. Good post though, thank you. Now, assuming they aren't working on a secret Switch port of the game (LOL), we'll see what BH can do fully focused on existing platforms.

    TPP NOT FPP

Honestly, I don't fully understand it myself. I'll walk up to a door to get an idea of my height and it seems roughly ok, but the whole thing feels off compared to other shooters. That's why I'm curious about the FOV adjustments. It also doesn't help that the wait is WAY too long for FPP matchmaking, and I hope that improves soon as well.

    TPP NOT FPP

Well, it's my biggest issue, but not the only one. Hoping that a better FOV will make it feel a bit better. At this point, I'm not expecting a made-from-scratch FPP experience like Battlefield, but it definitely needs improvement. This version of PUBG really SHOULD have been started from the ground up as a console shooter.

Well shit... You win the internet today. Well played.

    TPP NOT FPP

That is a well reasoned, logical argument. That's NOT how the internet works. Agreed though. Personally, I'm looking forward to the FOV slider for FPP. I enjoy the mode, but hate feeling like I'm only 3 feet high.

I see lots of good PUBG things

Yes, but apart from the sanitation, the medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, a fresh water system, and public health, what have the developers ever done for us? 😉 Good post and I absolutely agree on this!
  7. Not that they don't have enough on your plate, but what do the developers think of different sounds for rain when inside a building? Have more appropriate sounds of the rain hitting the roof of the building you're in?

PUBG Dev says they can’t fix game lol

Truth. I was worried about the X1 when it came out being hampered by design (slower RAM, GPU, etc..), compared to the PS4, but the games have been coming out lately like Assassin's Creed Odyssey and RDR2 illustrates what experienced programmers can accomplish with time (and admittedly bigger budgets). People sometimes forget what a shitshow the initial release of PUBG was on the X1, and I give them props for getting it this far... although I'm not entirely sure it should have left Game Preview yet.

I can't speak to technical details, but Rockstar has been making and pioneering the 3D open-world genre since GTA3. They've been honing and improving their tech and technique with almost 20 years of experience. In a lot of ways, PUBG is an open world game, but with no NPCs. You don't have to create AI routines for other characters, but the CPU gets hit hard dealing with keeping track of players, destructible items, loot, etc. Add in gunfights with weapons that can fire up to 1000 rounds per minute, over the internet, with multiple people at once, and things just go south VERY fast.

PUBG Dev says they can’t fix game lol

Geez, this brings me back to my days of programming in assembly back in the 90s... sheesh. So, it's sort of a race for time then. Can PUBG be optimized and improved quick enough before the player base dwindles too low to be reasonably sustainable. People aren't going to wait 5-10 minutes for every single match since one of the unique aspects of the game is getting right back into a new game quickly after you've lost. I don't blame the developers or programmers, I put the blame on the higher ups who made business decisions before the foundation was secure. They decided to upgrade the house into mansion before making sure the concrete foundation was set correctly.

They said after the first event mode that they were going to implement a way to save the area so it doesn't have to stream in over and over again during the drop. Why they didn't do that from the beginning, I have no idea. The area is known and static during the match. It seems like such a no-brainer. ...also, I would LOVE to have been a fly on the wall during the negotiations between Bluehole and MS regarding the viability of putting PUBG on the X1, knowing the technical limitations and such. Did one side convince the other it was doable? Did MS shrug off the issues to get that exclusive? Did Bluehole shrug off the issues for the Exclusive money and help?

    PUBG is dying

Can someone find out how many "PUBG is dying" posts have been made since it came out last year? I've lost count...

    Xbox 1.0 Update #2 - Feedback Topic

This is going to sound counter-intuitive, but I turned movement deadzone to 0, and it eliminated the over-sensitivity. I can run mostly straight easily now. But I agree with the people suggesting the Training Area to find your own settings.

    Item highlight

Not that I want the options to be 10 screens of toggles, but this might be a good one to have a toggle for when you are able to implement it again.
